This work represent an exploration of the myths and legends of the Chiloé Island in Chile. The local people of Chiloé have developed a rich tapestry of beliefs that are unique to the place. The Chiloé Myths are also quite different to the Christian-based
beliefs of Latin American cultures.

The widow dresses completely in black. She is tall and appears attractive to the men, especially those are unfaithful to their wives. Interestingly, she lets them to follow her to the forest and then scare them. thus, the wives need leave offers to la Viuda asking her to teach a lesson to the unreliable husbands.

She is fertility sea goddess. She allows the fishermen to take from her bounty and she is very generous to the people who worship her and respect her rules. On the other hand,since she can control the weather conditions, she brings storms and bad weather to the disrespectful.
